About the Prize

The Sunshine Coast Art Prize (SCAP) is among the nation's most significant regional art prizes. SCAP is presented by the Friends Noosa and Caloundra Regional Galleries and produced by the Sunshine Coast Council.

Now in its seventh year, SCAP 2D attracts the best contemporary and emerging artists Australia has to offer, with the winner receiving $15,000 plus a four-week placement valued at $5,000 as artist-in-residence at Arley Farm, Maleny, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. The winning artwork will be added to the Sunshine Coast Council Collection.

SCAP 3D is open to any Australian artist working in a 3D medium. The non- acquisitive prize includes $15,000 + a four-weeks arts residency on the Sunshine Coast valued at $5,000.

A non-acquisitive Highly Commended Prize to the value of $2,500 will also be announced at the Official Exhibition SCAP 2D and SCAP 3D Openings.
A non-acquisitive People’s Choice Prize to the value of $2,500 will be announced at the end of the SCAP 2D and SCAP 3D exhibitions for the artist who garners the most votes from visitors to the gallery.

SCAP 2D and SCAP 3D is open to any Australian citizen working in Australia. Forty finalists will be chosen from the entries submitted to the pre-selection panel. Please refer to the complete Conditions of Entry for the Prize.

The Sunshine Coast's young and emerging Tertiary students are showcased through SCAP T3 a non-acquisitive prize includes $3,000 for a 2D category and $3,000 for a 3D category. Applications for SCAP T3 open in May/June 2012.
